The World Famous Gutterband original show

THANK YOU

16/04/07 Thank you to everyone who has supported us in our journey over the last 2 years.  All those who have worked with the band both behind the scenes and up front. Thanks to the venues we have played where we have been made most welcome, and the crowds we've entertained who have made it worth all the hard work.  Despite much speculation, the reason for our disbanding was purely down to the fact that none of us are getting any younger.  The equipment needed for the show is extensive and extremely heavy and quite often has to be carried up flights of stairs to get to the stage, and that coupled with travelling the length and breadth of the country, just got to be too much.  Somedays, we would be away from home 18 hours or more. Sometimes the lads would walk in to their house from a show to have to walk out again 5 mins later to go to their day job, so after much discussion over whether to perform a smaller show or not travel as far, we decided we didn't want to perform a weaker, watered down version of the show you all know and love so much, so the decision was made to call it a day.

16/04/07 Well as i promised.. here's our report from our final gig.  It was of course an absolute storming night!!  The club was packed to capacity to see us off and it was quite an emotional night.  The crowd were in to it right from the off and got up dancing and singing along.  We've never seen so many cameras in one place as everyone tried to get their last pics of us. The crowd were totally amazing all night long and everyone stayed right to the very end, which on a Sunday night at Bellhouse is unusual, as bands go on late and people leave for work the next morning!  But no one was leaving this night,  and the singing from the crowd at times was defening.  Their was a lot of fun on stage from the boys as they let their hair down and went for it big style.  The drumming from Malice and Aladin was second to none and took our breath away.  The guitar rifts and solos from stand in guitarist Gary was outstanding as was his interaction with the crowd and band members, and last but certainly not least, was the stunning vocals of our Elvis who could have hit any note he wanted that night with absolutle ease and gave a command performance, as he always has.   When it came to the end of the show there was no way the crowd was letting us leave and that was the biggest cheer for an encore i have heard.  Some people even wanted to storm the stage, but were disuaded!! But after four encores, the time had come to say goodbye and with the crowd still shouting for more, we took our bows, and bid farewell.  Photos will be appearing on the site in the next few days.

At this time we would like to take the opportunity to say a Big Big thanks to Gary Millen on guitar who, along with Robbo, saw us through our last 2 months, after the guitarist we had Jake, unprofessionally walked out on us after a gig because he didn't see the point in playing the rest of the shows.  Unfortunatley that kind of lack of professionalism is something you come up against from time to time and puts a real strain on the band.  This could have caused us to end the band their and then, but thanks to the incredible support of John Robbo Robinson and Gary Millen, we were able to continue on.  These guys helped us out last year also and so had an idea what was needed, but still it isn't easy to walk straight in to a role and give a stage commanding performance and that is what both of these guys did. Especially Gary who on that last night absolutley made the role his own. Thank you.

07/04/07  We played our final show as The World Famous Gutterband last Sunday at Bellhouse Road.  We have some photos and there will be a report of the night coming in the next few days.... but a well earned rest has been earned, so be patient and let us all enjoy the Easter break.  Happy Easter to you all.

01/03/07 -Well... you've been asking and we can finally confirm our last show will be on April 1st at Bellhouse WMC, Sheffield.  It will be a joint show with The Space Cadets.  It may be a bit different to what you've seen from us in the past... The Cadets may bring along their infamous wheelie bins for one last outing.. something not to be missed if you've never seen them!!!! But whatever happens, we intend to make it a good night and look forward to seeing you all there for the last time.

14/01/07 - Yep folks.. its official... We have decided to bring our Journey to an end.  The World Famous Gutteband will perform its LAST EVER show, sometime in mid april... exact date to be confirmed. We've had an absolutley amazing time bringing the best of Glam rock to you all, but Malice has decided he wants to move on to pastures new and so is bringing our show to a close.   Malice aka Russ, and Elvis aka Wayne are going to carry on together with a new and exciting show, bringing together the best of our show and the Space Cadets show, with lots of new elements thrown in for good measure... As soon as we have confirmation of the name and first shows we'll be sure to let you all know.  Also keep checking back here for news of our last shows, and we'll see you there!!

08/12/06 - OOPS!!! Sorry folks!!  Sunday's show this week on the 10th December is at WOODSEATS WMC, Sheffield, NOT Smithywood WMC as previously billed.  My mistake... i'm only human!!!

15/11/06 - Well, we're well on the way with our tour of army and airforce bases.  The majority of them are this month with one or two next month and we're getting some great reactions!!! It was nice to receive some feedback direct to the site last week as well with a couple of comments coming in from RAF Waddington.  It's always good to get feedback from shows and don't forget, if you don't want to put a comment direct in the comments box, you can always email us and we'll put it on our feedback page.  Or if you're a bit shy and you just want to say 'Hi' then send your comment and ask for it to stay private...we don't mind, really!!!   At the moment, the forces shows are taking up most of our time, but that doesn't mean we've forgotten about our friends in clubland!!  We're in Sheffield this weekend and then Leeds and Driffield the weekend after.

20/10/06 - What a success we had with the German Tour.  We had show after show of cheering crowds.  We may have been in a different country.. we may have been speaking to them a foreign language, but just as the old saying goes 'music is the same in any language' so was the reaction.  We didn't all need to be able to speak fluent German to understand the cheers, the applause, the whistles, the dancing and the smiles.. they are the same in any language  and it was hugely gratifying to see the show appreciated in Europe as it is here in Britain.  It was a lot of travelling and extremely tyring.. but at the end of the day... totally worth it!

But, now we are back home and its roll on this weekend as we take off across the North bridging the gap once again between Lancashire and Yorkshire.  Its Wigan on Saturday night... always a good town to play... and then back to our old stomping ground of Bellhouse Road, Sheffield.  Bellhouse always raise the roof for us so looking forward to hearing them do it again.  See you there!!

09/10/06 - We've just had a FANTASTIC weekend to see us off to Germany!.  Saturday at Primrose Valley was out of this world.  The Haven Flagship site on the East Coast is an amazing venue to play.  The site was fully booked this weekend too with no day passes (we checked.. couldn't even get our own families in!! lol) A top club house with a great load up.. always makes life so much easier!!! And then when it came to show time... the place was packed like sardines.  It was an electric atmosphere and the place just rocked from start to finish.  Every one at the site was so friendly and helpful too which again makes such a difference to us when we are getting ready or packing up at the end of the night.  We just all had so much fun... and what has been really nice today is that we've had some great feedback from people who were there and when you get comments such as the one from John, well it's what it's all about.  To make someone feel like that is what we strive to do and its just so gratifying to know we have.

Sunday at The Ship Thurnscoe, was another great night.  Again the club was packed and the crowd really enjoyed both the Space Cadets show and our own crazy antics.  Sadly, things did get a little out of hand at the end when our videographer was embroiled in a tussle with 3 youths intent on getting hold of the video camera.. but also got hold of her as well!  Thankfully though, the staff at the Ship were on hand and prevented things getting any worse than they were and the said youths were ejected from the club. It was good to see staff there were on the ball and won't stand for any kind of nonsense.

But now.. roll on Germany!! Playing back in the UK in just under two weeks time firstly in Wigan and then Sheffield.  See you all there!!!

23/09/06 - Well what a week for us!!!!  Firstly we were able to announce our German Tour which we are thrilled about... and then at long last we are able to announce our associations with the British Armed Forces!!!  We've started to put the dates on our Tour date page, but there will be more to come. We are hoping that we will be able to visit as many of the bases as possible and give our guys and girls a morale boost if needed.. or just a damn good night out otherwise!!! Whenever we've played for the Armed Forces before we've always had a great reception and so we're really looking forward to visiting old and new places alike.

20/09/06 - We are pleased to announce the dates for our German Tour...That's right!!! We're invading Europe and we're taking the Space Cadets show with us for good measure.  It's something we had been hoping to do and finally we got it all sorted.  We're very excited about it!!

06/09/06  Things are ticking over quite nicely now at the moment as our recent extra hard work pays off.  Our new Roy is finding his feet and settling in well...it's never easy to step in to an established role but he's doing a fine job. We finally found Basil again (coaxing him out of that tree was a nightmare!!) and he is back up to his usual tricks (so watch out ladies!!)  And the new songs we're including in the show are all going down a storm and the audiences are loving them.  Lots of new dates have come in this week as well so check the tour dates page to see when we are next near you!!

06/09/06 - The great thing about a live show is that it is just that... live.... and no two shows are ever the same... anything can happen and invariabley does!!!   Sometimes they are little things.. and we smile... sometimes they are big things and we laugh so much (never mind the audience!) that we don't know how we will continue... One of those slightly bigger things happened last week at Leicester.  We had almost finished the show and were performing one of our newer numbers, Koocachoo.  Everything was going fantastic when at long last.... Elvis became a victim of his platforms!! Whilst doing one of his moves... his ankle gave way in the boot and down he went... no chance of saving himself.  One minute he was there.. the next all we saw were feet!!  But if that wasnt enough to get the tears rolling down our faces.... there was also an almighty rip as the suit decided the move was just too much and split .. right between his crotch!!   How the drummers continued on without missing a single beat i will never know... especially as they could hardly sit upright they were laughing so much..same goes for guitar and bass.  Thankfully Elvis wasn't hurt but i bet he's a bit more wary next time he sings Kookachoo!

06/09/06  Heard on the grapevine today that Housequake have decided to hang up their instruments!  We were all very shocked to hear the news as we hadn't heard any rumours prior to this of a breakup.  Hopefully the demise of this top band are over exageratted and they will continue on.. but if it is true then we wish them all well in whatever it  is they all decide to do.  Good luck to you all...

30/08/06 - Just for information... The comments box IS still on the friends and fans page... it is just now under the photos as the page was created primarily for pics of you lot so.. if you are looking for the comments box.. it is still here !!!!

18/08/06 - As our new guitarist has been found, we would now like to show our appreciation for the man who kept us on the road during our search, the exceptional John 'Robbo' Robinson.  John has been outstanding in his contribution to the band over these last few weeks.  His talent as a guitarist is phenomenal and when we tell you that normally he plays with Paul Carrick and Van Morrison to name just a couple.. you will understand just how lucky we have been to have him with us.  A consumate professional, John has mucked in with the rest of us and done all he could to help us out...  not just playing, but roadieing and driving too... none of which he had to do.  He is also a great guy and very funny. We hope to stay in touch. Best wishes to you John and Thank you... see you soon mate!!!

18/08/06 - Well, the search for our new guitarist is over!  Our new guitarist will be live on stage very soon and we can't wait.  He is an immensly talented player and we're confident he will fit right in!!! More details next week!

18/08/06 -  Congratulations to Emma and Martin who got married last Saturday down in the Cotswolds.  Emma looked absolutley stunning and they are a lovely couple.  It was an honour to be there for such a joyous occasion and we are glad we were able to entertain them, their friends and family with the show.  We wish them all the best for the future and are sure they will be very happy.  It was a great night!

02/08/06 - **NEW**  Check out our friends and fans page... as well as the usual comments we receive from you all via email (keep them coming please!!!) which go on our feedback page, we are trialing a comments/rating system.  Basically it gives you the opportunity to comment on anything to do with the band.. whether it be the guys, the show or the website... as long as its band related!!! Just make sure we know what it is you're talking about.. and then if you like you can give a rating!!  It is a trial at the moment to see if its popular or not and replacing the shout box.... however, abuse of any kind won't be tolerated and if we find some people are being unreasonable it will be removed.. spoiling it for everyone else... so come on, play nice!!!!

31/07/06 - A lot of effort goes in to our shows.   We all work hard often in difficult conditions.  What a lot of people don't realise is that we spend many hours travelling to and from venues... it takes hours to set up and pack down our equipment.. we are always there long before an audience arrives and long after they've left... it's not just about performing the show.  And sometimes we do wonder why????  Why do we do it??  Why do we put ourselves through it week in week out, night after night..... and then we play a show like Saturday's, at Burlington Club, Wath.   This was a new venue to us.... but we sincerely hope it won't be the last time we're there.   What a Night!!!!   The club was packed to the rafters all night long.   The Space Cadets show had them in stitches from the opening sketch to the end..... we just had to have a laugh during the bingo, which everyone took in good fun and then from the opening notes of Rock and Roll to the last drum beat... The WF Gutterband show had them rocking !!... after three encores we had to say enough.. (we were shattered !!) but if we could have we'd have gone all night.   They were a fantastic audiance who came to have fun.. they weren't disappointed and it just reaffirms why we do what we do.    Burlington is a lovely little club too and the staff there were absolutley wonderful... thanks for all the tea it was much appreciated... see you again soon.

23/07/06  We've had some absolultey electrifying nights recently.   Skegness on Thursday was out of this world with a crowd ready for action.  The heat was blistering but with the holiday season in full swing everyone there wanted to have a ton of fun and thats just what they did.   The band did too!!  After setting up the equipment we all wandered off to the pleasure beach and braved a variety of rollercoaster rides and pirate ships.

Saturday night saw us closer to home at the Ashfield wmc, Barnsley... however, things didn't go with such a bang... or should i say, they did... when Aladin Pain narrowly missed a trip to casualty (or worse!) when some very suspect wiring in the club decided it didnt want to play nice and gave him the biggest shock of his life quite literally!!!  He was flung back across stage with an almighty bang and flash and was only saved from being badly injured due to using power surge equipment, which took the full brunt of the shock and was totally burned out!  He was however fine... and continued on to perform in the show.

Anyone who has seen the show in the last couple of weeks will have noticed one or two small changes.  As we have announced on stage.. these changes are needed at the moment whilst a permanent replacement guitartist is found.  However, these measures are only temporary and everything will be back to normal very soon!!!

08/07/06 - Well what a night last night at The Baths Hall Scunthorpe!!   Another phenomenal night with a capacity crowd.  Congratulations to our stand in guitarist John 'Robo' Robinson who stepped in last minute when our current guitarist, who handed his notice in last week, suddenly became too ill to perform, putting the show in jeopady.  But everyone involved with the band rallied round and a replacement was quickly found... and what a replacement he is!!!!  An absolute first class guitar player with an amazing talent and  a stunning ability to pick up the songs instantly.  We really couldn't have got anyone better to stand in at such short notice.  Robo got stuck in and having never been presented with the opportunity of wearing flares, a wig and grease paint before thoroughly enjoyed himself.!!!! Robo who is the guitarist with top entertainer Paul Carrick is going to help out until our new guitarist is decided upon.  Strangely enough .... even without the make up, Robo bares an un canny resemblance to the real Roy Wood... so a lot of make up wasn't needed to make him Roy Wouldn't!!! Many thanks again Robo... we just can't say it enough!

Anyway it was great to see so many at the Baths Hall again... some familiar faces as well as new ones.  The Baths Hall is such a great place to play and is a venue we love returning to. Our thanks again go to Charlie and Dave for helping make the night another thoroughly enjoyable experience.  It's always such a professional attitude from all at the Hall, from Management to bar staff to security. Thanks also to everyone who takes the time to get in touch about our shows... your feedback is always appreciated and we put as many comments as we can on the site.

Back stage at The Baths Hall.. Robo in the centre.

28/05/06 - We're all keeping very busy at the moment and travelling some fair distances for shows.  Subsequently our news from the show at JB's, Dudley is a little late... and we've had our wrists slapped for it (sorry Lucy!!)   We always have a great time down Birmingham way and JB's was certainly our kind of club... when it comes to personal taste in music anyway.  A haven for Rock and Metal and there were plenty of rockers and moshers in as you would expect!   Indeed we are no strangers to Metallica and the likes and so although our show of course is Glam, we did feel right at home.   The show was great and went down a storm with the audience... but there was one amusing incident that should be mentioned.    Half way through performing 'Blockbuster'... "The cops are out...." etc, we noticed the club suddenly fill up with police (their timing was perfect!) and our singer Elvis just happened to mention it.   You've never seen so many people head for the toilets so fast!!  It was quite something to see!!!

17/05/06 - Hey everyone.... just a little update to let you know what we're up to with the site!!  We've got one or two new features and we'd like to know if you like them!  On the Friends and fans page we now have a messenger service  - kind of a cross between a guestbook and a chat room.  It works very similarly to other messenger services so have a look and start a chat!!  We've also been updating our Photo Page.  We now have the photos from the Bellhouse gig on there.. but we've also now seperated the photos in to their respective venues.  We've also added a couple of new bits to the home page.   Firstly, we now have a news updated date on there so you can see when the news was last changed at a glance but also, right at the bottom of the page... for a limited time only... we have some pics of us you can play with!!!  Just roll your mouse over each picture and see it change.... if  you do it quick enough you can make us dance!!  Feedback on the site is always appreciated, so drop us a line and let us know what you think!

14/05/06 *** IMPORTANT  - Tonights performance at Woodseats wmc has had to be cancelled due to illness.  We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause but it is of course something  beyond our control..  Hope to be back there soon!!

12/05/06 The World Famous Gutterband are pleased to announce their BELLHOUSE WEEKEND on the 19th & 20th August!!  Glam rock, Glitter, Grease paint and platforms .... It'll be a Seventies Summer Song fest...  Just make sure you wear your flares!!!

07/05/06 - We've had an interesting couple of weekends just lately.  Last week we absolutley couldn't do wrong!!  Cresswell, Bellhouse and Newbold were all top flight, raise the roof gigs.  Everyone who turned up were ready to party!!  We hadn't played in Cresswell or Newbold before and wasn't sure what to expect.. but the shows were sell outs and the packed clubs rocked the night away.  The same happened at Bellhouse.  Infact the club had to close it's doors to the concert room early as every seat was taken and all standing room was occupied!!  Many dissapointed people had to be turned away!!   The ones that did get in had brought, what is becoming the usual, aray of wigs, weird glasses and strange teeth!!!  We're all still trying to figure out what reference they have to the 70's and glam but at the end of the day it's about having fun and with these audiences we certainly do!!  The bar staff and glass collectors were run ragged once again and again the club ran out of glasses very early on... But when it came to the band coming out.. the crowd were ready.. they had laughed with The Space Cadets and now were ready to dance with the WF Gutterband.  As soon as the lights went down there was a rip roaring cheer...Even before our front man Elvis Press-stud had appeared on stage, they were up and dancing.. .. they even danced through dance with the devil!!!  The atmosphere was electric and Elvis sang his platforms off!!! It's probably the best vocal performance i've seen him give and that's despite the fact that only 5 days before he was battling a very nasty case of tonsilitis!!  It was yet another memorable night for us at Bellhouse.. it's a great club, with great staff, great members and a superb audience.  We're always made welcome and we hope to see you all again there soon.

The week before at Hawthorne, we were threatened on stage by someone who took exception  to us playing Gary Glitter songs.    He was rapidly beaten up by a lovely lady with her crutch (bless her).  However this is an issue we should probably address.  Yes we do play some Gary Glitter songs.   This does not mean we condone in any way, shape or form anything he has done.  At the end of the day he did record some fantastic songs and there is no denying that.  We did think long and hard when we put together our song list as to whether we should include the glitter songs or not.  We decided we would and would then see how our audiences reacted.  Thankfully, the majority of audiences are able to seperate these songs from the man and they usually get the biggest and best crowd reactions.  We have also previously asked for people to write to us and let us know their opinions on whether the songs should be included or not.  We did get several responses and everyone of them was to keep the songs in!!! One of them is posted on our feedback page too for anyone to read.  So there you go.. other than that we had a great night at Hawthorne and thanks to everyone else there who showed us their support.

28/04/06 - DATE CHANGE... The show in Leeds at the Queens Wood  Social Club has been brought forward from the 23rd June to the week before, the 16th June. See you there!

23/04/06 - Just to let you all know folks..... in case you hadn't noticed.... we've got our first video clip on the site!!!!   The link to it is located on the home page and it's a snippet from our show at the Coronation WMC in Thurnscoe on the 08/04/2006.

10/04/06  -  Saturday was an incredible night of firsts!    It's been a long time since we played in Thurnscoe... but what a welcome and what a come back on Saturday night at the Coronation WMC.     The club was filled to capacity long before the Space Cadets came on stage and it was most definitley standing room only.. but when they did emerge with the first sketch, they were greeted with an enormous cheer!  The atmosphere in the club was amazing and we couldn't wait to get our gear on and get out there!

It was the debut of our Harley-Davidson on stage.... expertly riden by Roy Wouldn't!!   Dancers were on the floor from the start and the numbers just increased with each song.  When the dance floor was full, the audience danced in the aisles, danced at the back, danced at the bar and danced at their tables!!   The toy box gave everyone a nostalgic trip back to the 70's and Basil Thrush had a whale of a time as the girls all clamered to pet him in his tiger costume.. (something he enjoyed a little too much!!).

At the end of the night we were told it was the Wedding Anniversary of the club concert secretary and his wife, John and Val...and to celebrate we received the strangest request we have ever had!!!!!   Val wanted to walk through Malices' coffin!!!!!  Well!  Who are we to refuse!!... So to a packed house and a drum role to set the mood the door to Malices' coffin was flung open and through came a very happy Val! BUT.... that wasn't enough....bitten by the bug Val challenged us to another first for her anniversary!  She wanted to go on the Spinning Man!!!   Well... imagining law suits galore if she fell off... we were somewhat reluctant at first.... but again, it was their 30th anniversary and she promised not to sue..so we strapped her in and off she went!!!!  The crowd loved it.. especially when her skirt fell over her head!! but she was undaunted and had a huge smile on her face when we lifted her off.  It's not something we've ever done before or will probably do again!!  but it was certainly a great experience and we were glad we could fulfil Val's wish!!   All in all we felt it was an awesome night. The atmosphere was electric and the show was an unmitigated success from beginning to end.

01/04/06 - View from a Drum Kit....Last night in Maltby at the Progressive Club...yet another SOLD OUT venue waits for the show to begin!!!!.....Sorry for the delay folks but at last the report from Maltby!!!  Yet another welcoming crowd were waiting for us when we arrived at Maltby.  It was an all ticket sold out show and there was a great air of anticipation before we started.   The Space Cadets show was enjoyed by all as always and is a great way to get the crowd really buzzing before we emerge!!  When we did break out on stage the hush erupted to a thunderous cheer and it was non stop from there!!  It was great to see Alan there.... an ex member of 70's Mayhem who congratulated us on the show afterwards.  The same success was repeated the following night at EastWood View wmc.  Great fun.. Great nights both!!

26/03/05 - The Baths Hall Scunthorpe - What a venue! What a night!  The Baths Hall is rapidly becoming one of our favourite places to play with a professional outlook from everyone involved there.  Dave and Charlie the owners are fantastic to work with.  Everything is prepared and ready to go when we arrive, making the whole process of setting up, performing and packing down simple and straight forward. It's a great place to play in with a well thought out stage area and customer safety. It's a venue that everyone in the area knows well and has a reputatuion for providing the best entertainment and the best nights out, so once the crowd does arrive and the place is packed, the atmosphere is absolutley out of this world.  It was no different on Friday when we came on stage....The crowd errupted for each and every one of us and partied the entire night away.  They sang, they danced, they joined in everything and it was fantastic. We have one or two new additions to the show and the crowd loved them! We can honestly recommend the Baths Hall for anyone wanting a great night out.  Looking forward to returning in August!! For further information on the Baths Hall, click here to go to their website. As for Dave and Charlie, thanks for making our performances there so easy and a real pleasure. You're two brilliant blokes, with a brilliant venue..You provided drinks and biccies all night which were much appreciated and anything we need is always readily available.  We can't thank you enough - see you soon!!!!

26/03/05 - First of all, apologies for the late feedback from our show at Coast Fields Holiday Park, Ingoldmells last week.  We had a fantastic night at a great venue and Gary and Eloise, the booking management there, were out of this world and couldn't do enough to help us.  It was great to see them too dressing up for the occasion and joining in the fun although as Gary has probably spent most of this week still looking like the Hulk, we think he won't rush to be the Hulk again anytime soon!!  They provided us with great facilities, food and drinks for the evening and nothing was too much trouble.  Thanks guys for all you did - especially the photos, and hope to see you again soon!

30/01/06 - We always thought New Year's Eve was but once a year, but we all had to double check our calenders on Sunday night when the audience at Bell House Road WMC, Sheffield, raised the roof off the building, giving the club one of its most successful, if not the most successful night in the clubs history.

The club was packed to the rafters from the very beginning and our support show from The Space Cadets went down a storm with lots of people seeing that show for the first time despite the Cadets appearing at Bell House Road several times before.  However by the time our first band member, Roy Wouldn't strode on stage the crowd were at fever pitch and an ovation greeted each member in turn.

The first part of the show was outstanding but The Space Medley, with the spinning man, the glam ramp, costume changes and explosions was absolutley phenomenal - performed to absolute perfection by each band member.

The dance floor then rapidly filled and remained stretched to capacity until after the many encores had been performed and the band were long off stage.  The highlight for the band though was the wildly supportive crowd who just couldn't get enough and joined in whenever and wherever possible.  A particular moment of enjoyment was when the rival fans of Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday were pitted against each other in a sing - off to 'Hi Ho Silver Lining' which after many close calls, was finally won by the Wednesday fans.

It was great to see our Manager Alan Wood and his wife attend the performance and having a fabulous time as did everyone who turned up, with many stating it was the best night out they had had in a long time.

The club management, committee and bar staff were all astounded by the success of the night and said they had never experienced anything like it.  Normally, the club employ just one glass collector, but that night they had two and then had to send out bar staff as well, when they completely ran out of clean glasses.

It was a great night enjoyed by all - the band would like to say thanks to everyone at the club for their support and we hope it won't be too long before we're back there again.  For more information about Bell house wmc - go to their new website @ www.freewebs.com/bellhousewmc

06/01/06 - It's been a great start to the year for the Gutterband, with the old year being sent on it's way in style at Horwich and the new year coming in with a bang at Doncaster!

The Show at Horwich was an especially important one to us, as the club had been sent a 5 page letter prior to the gig,(by persons who at this time will remain un named) refering to us as an inferior band and show (to put it very mildly!) and that we should be cancelled.  Thankfully for us, Vinnie, who is in charge at the club, is an intelligent man who can think for himself and so took no notice of the letter.  However, we did feel a little added pressure because of this slander, but it just made us all the more determined to prove the sender wrong and Vinnie's faith in us right......And we didn't disappoint!!  It was a legendary night all round.  The club had booked some other Cabaret acts for the evening - a superb solo singer and 2 blokes doing a balloon dance (why does that sound familiar??) before we went on.   But by the time our intro started, the atmosphere was electric and each and every one of us on our entrance received a rousing ovation from the audience.   The crowd then just kept going all night and the ambience was phenomenal.  After the show many people came over to chat with us, which is always nice and Vinnie exclaimed how pleased he was with the show and concluded he would be having us back again later this year - so keep checking the tour dates for our next gig in Bolton.  The agents who had booked us as well had also spent the entire evening in the club watching the show and were thoroughly pleased and delighted with what they saw, which will hopefully mean more performances in the North West generally!!

We then saw in the New Year in Doncaster with 2  performances in Wheatley and Edlington.   These were the first of our joint shows with The Space Cadets and both nights proved to be highly successful.  Both of the clubs reported hugely increased crowd numbers on those nights and without doubt, both nights were rip roaring successes.  The Space Cadets show was as always, immensly funny and a great way to get everyone in the party mood ready for us.

30/12/05 - The Gutterband are pleased to announce their link with the Space Cadets Show for a series of special performances through out January!  The four shows in Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield will see the Gutterband bring their act back to Clubland for you all to see just what you've been missing!  This series of shows sees us supported by the top comedy band The Space Cadets, to provide a night of hilarious entertainment!!!!   Whatever you do - don't miss it - check the tour dates page for further details!!!!!  Also, why not check out the Space Cadets own website and get a glimpse in to their weird and wacky world!!

29/12/05 - Two shows back to back at the Embassy, Sheffield, last week was a great way to see in Christmas! The people of Sheffield are a lively lot and were certainly full of the Christmas spirit (and every other kind of spirit, vodka, rum etc!!)  It was a good time from start to finish - cheers to everyone at the club, staff and audience alike for making it so much fun.  A special thanks as well goes to the queue of women who lined up to touch the King himself during the show - it made his Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our friends and everyone who has supported us throughout this year.  See you all again soon,  Aladin, Joe, Roy, Elvis and Malice.

13/12/05 - It was good to be back in Scunthorpe last week when we found ourselves back at the Baths Hall.  The crowd were outstanding and as glamed up as we were!!  They were a great bunch, up for fun and fun is what we all had.  The band would like to say thanks to Dave and Charlie who recently took over ownership of the hall for all the help provided throughout the evening.

13/12/05 - It was a superb night at Brize Norton with the band entertaining the troops at their Christmas Ball.  The band had the privilege of performing last on the night to a jam packed main hall (sgts mess), after several other top quality bands of different genres played earlier.  There was a great camaraderie between all the performers which added to the atmosphere and the crowd were totally ready for a party by the time the boys came on stage.  One of the officers got up and showed everyone how the 'tiger feet' dance should be done - and several of the wives had the 'priveledge' of dancing with Mr Press-Stud himself!!  A great time was had by all and the band are looking forward to performing again for the armed forces. On a personal note, the band would like to thank Wiggy for all his help and support throughout the night and for the butties provided before the journey home!!

29/11/05 - Well, the band are off to entertain the troops this week when they make the journey down to RAF Brize Norton.  The band are looking forward to the opportunity to perform for the armed forces in what will be as always, a fantastic night of 70's glam rock.  We will report on how it all goes when they get back.

21/11/05 - Yet another superb night on Saturday when we performed to a packed Masonic Hall in Grimsby.  The show went down a storm with the audience and we had a lot of fun doing it. I'm sure a lot of money was raised for charity which was the whole purpose of the evening and well done to everyone who turned up and supported it.  It was a great venue and great people and we hope to return there in the not too distant future.

17/11/05 - Do your bit for charity!!  The band are performing their electrifying show for a charity event this Saturday the 19th at the Masonic Hall, Grimsby.  There are some tickets still available or you can pay on the night.  As well as a great night of entertainment there is also a hot buffet included.  For further details contact the venue on 01472 871431.  See you all there!

07/11/05 - Wow!!! What a fantastic time we all had on Saturday when we played at Flamingo land!  We put on a top show, the crowd were wild, totally in the party mood and there was an amazing atmosphere all night. The other acts who performed before us were all top class - it was great working with them, and the members of staff involved were brilliant - very professional, a great venue! The feedback we got later was excellent and we really enjoyed talking to everyone who came over to chat after the show!!  However, the journey home wasn't so smooth!!  Unfortunately for us we had a tyre blow out on the M1 and were lucky to keep the lorry on the road with no casualties!!  But then, to make matters worse we didn't have the spare tyre and were stranded!!  We eventually made it home about 6 hours later after being rescued by one of the bands family - we had to laugh....but then after such a good evening nothing could bring us down.  We hope to see everyone there again soon!

*** All here at the Gutterband were saddened to hear the report of the untimely passing of our friend and musician Paul Vickers (Curly) on Wednesday 19th October 2005.  Curly was a great guitarist and talented drummer and was held in high regard by those who knew him.  He was hugely respected by all and had worked in the bands Eat the Rich, Calluna and The Hornets.  As Curly became ill our own drummer Kev stepped in to help out The Hornets, Lee, Shaun and Darren as much as possible and was glad to do so.  Kev, Quo and Russ all worked with Curly at various times in their careers and he will be much missed.  Our most sincere and deepest condolences go out to all Curly's family and friends.***

17/10/05 - An exciting time for the Gutterband as Russ has been involved in talks with founder member of the Glitterband, John Rossall.  Nothing definite has been established at the moment, but keep checking back here, hopefully for an announcement of joint shows with the two bands early next year.

12/10/05 - Don't miss out on seeing the Gutterband this Christmas!!  The shows at the Embassy Suite, Sheffield are proving to be highly in demand and indeed tickets for the 23rd December have already sold out!!!!!  Both nights there are going to be absolutely fabulous (as are all Gutterband shows of course!!) so get your tickets for the 24th while you can!

03/09/05 - The Gutterband had a great time at the Manby Showground last weekend and would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers for all their help and support throughout the evening.  Although a technical problem with power, which was beyond anyone's control hampered the show to a degree, the band continued on and provided a fantastic show which was enjoyed by all.  Both organisers and audience members congratulated the band on the show and commented on looking forward to seeing them play again soon.

17/08/05 - The Gutterband are happy to be playing at the Nora Sport Racing Weekend on the 28th August at Manby Showground.

The event is 3 days of exciting off road racing, with the Gutterband providing the live entertainment on the Sunday night after a full day of Motocross championships.  There will also be a disco, a bar, hog roast, Brenda's Puddings, lots of games and a late night finish.....make sure you don't miss it!!!!

01/08/05 - The opening night for the World Famous Gutterband was the success we all knew it would be….read on to find out more…

 And the crowd went wild!!!!!!!!

What an evening…. the launch of the World Famous Gutterband was a monster night!!!

From the opening notes to the last rip roaring syllable it was the total party it had promised to be.

The audience had come fully expecting a good night and they weren’t disappointed!!!

The cheering started when Aladin Pain emerged from the boot of the reliant robin and it never stopped.

All the hits of the seventies from Bowie to Suzi Quatro, Mud to Steve Harley were belted out by larger than life front man Elvis Press-stud, whose voice was matched only by his persona.

We had costume changes, we had pyro technics – an amazing technical sound and light show.

The two incredibly talented drummers hammered out the 70’s beat with total precision and mesmerised everyone with their battle of the drummers, to Cozy Powell’s dance with the devil – an awesome drum solo!

However not to be outdone, stunning guitarist Roy Wouldn’t climbed aboard the spinning man and performed the entire guitar solo to Life on Mars going round and round – absolute perfection,  total class!

The audience had brought some of their own instruments, inflatable guitars, drum sticks, plus others and the dance floor was never empty.  They sang, they waved, they cheered, they applauded, they shouted for more.  Without doubt this was Glam Rock at it’s absolute best!
